The Ministry of Education's Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education Program Senior Teacher Training Camp kicked off in Matsu. The program's teaching team and teachers from partner schools embarked on a multi-day journey across the ocean to this dreamlike island where "the sea is the land." From Nangan to Dongju, they visited art sites along the way, experiencing Matsu's daily life, art, spirit, and beauty firsthand and engaging in in-depth dialogue.
The Ministry of Education's Interdisciplinary Aesthetic Education Program's Senior Teacher Training Camp recently commenced in Matsu, visiting numerous art venues. At the 26 Art Base in Nangan, teachers experienced the creative transformation of a military base into a culinary art space. Rusted steel plates and rock walls reflected the natural landscape, while light streamed onto an artist-created chessboard. The black and white pieces embodied the hopes and ideals of the Matsu people. The installation art in Zhongzheng Hall, like blue tears shimmering in the night, reflected the emotional connections of the Matsu people and immersed the visiting teachers in the experience.
The research team also visited Dongju Elementary School for in-depth discussions with teachers and students. Teacher Huiqin shared her international collaboration with Ogijima Elementary and Junior High School in Japan. Through cyanotype and kite-flying activities, she connected the emotions and dreams of the two islands, showcasing the achievements of Dongju Elementary School in promoting aesthetic education.
This workshop not only deepened teachers' professional perspectives but also echoed Art Island's annual theme, "Pao Mao," symbolizing the close connection between educators and artists, like a fixed fishing net. Through mutual exchange, everyone shared their passion for education and the inspiration of art, sowing the seeds of beauty on this island.
